It is therefore, not uncommon to find social workers working with: families, children, the elderly, psychiatric and medical patients.
They work in schools, social security outfits, communities, industries, rehabilitation centres, in emergency situations and in the various camps especially those of the internally displaced people. It is worthy of note that social workers are equally capable of working in the areas of research, policy/programme formulation, analysis and implementation.
However, as important as the services being provided by this group of professionals are, they still need to be exposed to training and re-training so as to advance their knowledge and increase their skills, effectiveness and efficiency.
